  • 2 cups all-purpose flour All-purpose flour is recommended for the best texture.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt If using salted butter, adjust the added salt to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor of the cookies.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until well combined.
  5. Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Flatten each ball slightly with a fork or your fingers.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Try adding chopped nuts or chocolate chips for a fun twist. Watch the baking time so the cookies do not brown too much.
