  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
Add-ins
  • 1 cup chopped fresh apples (like Honeycrisp or Gala) Peel and core the apples before chopping.
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) Feel free to omit if preferred.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract and applesauce.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped apples and nuts, if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50-65 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
