Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 2 tablespoons of flour until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture in the baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine 3/4 cup flour, oats, both sugars, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter and mix until crumbly.
Baking
- Sprinkle the topping over the apple mixture evenly.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
Serving
- Let the crisp rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
For added flavor complexity, mix different varieties of apples. Can be made gluten-free by using a gluten-free flour blend. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
