Preparation
- Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract together.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; some lumps are okay.
Cooking
- Lightly grease the waffle maker with non-stick spray or a bit of oil.
- Pour enough batter into the waffle maker to fill it halfway (the amount may vary depending on your waffle maker).
- Close the lid and cook until golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Carefully remove the waffle donut and place it on a wire rack. Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
Serving
- Once cooled for a few minutes, top your donuts with powdered sugar, chocolate glaze, sprinkles, or any of your preferred toppings.
Notes
Store waffle donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze them wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 3 months. Reheat in the toaster or microwave until warm. Experiment with flavors by adding spices or alternative flours.
