Ingredients
  

For the batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup milk Room temperature for best results.
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.
  • 1 pinch salt
For the molds
  • 1 set heart-shaped cake molds Greased and ready for batter.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix just until combined.
  7. Grease the heart-shaped cake molds and pour the batter evenly, filling about two-thirds full.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool in the molds for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decoration
  1. Decorate as desired with whipped cream, berries, or powdered sugar.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze for up to 3 months.
