  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, room temperature Make sure butter is at room temperature for better mixing.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cups whole milk Can substitute with any type of milk.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch salt
  • red and blue food coloring For vibrant superhero colors.
  • buttercream frosting Store-bought or homemade.
  • Spider-Man cake topper Optional decoration.
  • edible glitter for a vintage effect Optional decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 6-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Cake Batter
  1. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  3. Divide the batter into two bowls. Tint one bowl with red food coloring and the other with blue.
  4. Pour the batters into the prepared cake pan in alternating spoonfuls to create a marble effect.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cakes cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Assembly
  1. Once cooled, slice each layer in half horizontally to create four layers total.
  2. Assemble your cake by layering and frosting each cake layer generously with buttercream.
  3. Decorate as desired, adding a Spider-Man cake topper and edible glitter.

Notes

Serve at room temperature for best flavor. Store leftover cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, wrap slices in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months.
