Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 15cm round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully mixed in before the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, starting and ending with flour.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or with ice cream and fresh fruits. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
