Ingredients
  

For the Layers
  • 1 package chocolate graham crackers You can substitute with regular graham crackers
  • 1 cup milk Use milk of choice
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix Instant pudding works best for this recipe
  • 1 container whipped topping (like Cool Whip) Or make your own with heavy cream
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Ensure it's softened for easy mixing
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar For sweetening the cream cheese mixture
  • 1 cup chocolate shavings or chocolate chips For topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in half of the whipped topping and set aside.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and chocolate pudding mix for about 2 minutes. Let it sit for a few minutes to thicken.
Assembly
  1. In a rectangular dish, layer a third of the chocolate graham crackers in the bottom.
  2. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the graham crackers.
  3. Add half of the chocolate pudding mixture on top.
  4. Spread another layer of whipped topping over the pudding.
  5. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped topping.
  6. Top with chocolate shavings or chips.
Chilling
  1. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. Slice and serve cold.

Notes

This dessert can be adapted for gluten-free diets by using gluten-free chocolate graham crackers. It is also best made a day in advance for improved flavor.
