Method

Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Assembling and Decorating
  1. Once cooled, level the cakes if necessary and stack with a layer of frosting in between.
  2. Use white frosting to cover the entire cake, creating a smooth surface.
  3. Decorate with red and black fondant to form Spiderman's face and web design.
  4. Use black frosting to add additional details as desired.
  5. Slice, serve, and enjoy your Spiderman Cake!

Notes

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. Dust your work surface with powdered sugar when rolling out fondant to prevent sticking.
