  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Omit if using salted butter.
Toppings
  • 1 cup colorful holiday sprinkles Use a mix of your favorite holiday sprinkles.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the holiday sprinkles.
  6. Drop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about one week. For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
