Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually stir this mixture into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Decoration
- Once the cake is completely cool, frost with your choice of frosting and decorate with sprinkles or fruit.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
