Ingredients
  

Vegetables
  • 1 head Cauliflower Cut into florets.
  • 1 head Broccoli Cut into florets.
  • 2 medium Carrots Sliced.
Cheese Sauce
  • 2 cups Cheese (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella) Shredded.
  • 2 cups Milk Whole milk recommended.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter For cooking the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup Flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper To taste.
Topping
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs Optional for topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Steam the cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots until tender.
Making the Cheese Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, stir in the flour, and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a boil until slightly thickened.
  3. Stir in cheese until melted and smooth.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Combine the steamed vegetables with the cheese sauce, then transfer to a baking dish.
  2. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until bubbling and golden.

Notes

For added flavor, mix in garlic or onion while sautéing the butter and flour. You can substitute the cheese to add a unique flavor to your casserole.
