  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk Can substitute with milk and vinegar.
Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Use the spoon-and-level method for accurate measurement.
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Add-ins
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips Feel free to experiment with other types of chocolate.
  • to taste red food coloring Adjust to achieve desired color.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture; mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in white chocolate chips and a few drops of red food coloring until the desired color is achieved.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spaced a couple of inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers remain slightly soft.
  3. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them with parchment layers in between.
