Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, followed by the red food coloring and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Roll tablespoon-sized dough balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie while still warm.
- Allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Serve fresh for the best taste. Can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or frozen for three months.
