Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg Also at room temperature.
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring Adjust for deeper color if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Garnish
  • 24 pieces Hershey's chocolate kisses For the center of each cookie.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, followed by the red food coloring and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Roll tablespoon-sized dough balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie while still warm.
  3. Allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve fresh for the best taste. Can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or frozen for three months.
