Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 slices slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, white, or whole grain)
  • 2 slices slices of mozzarella cheese (or a blend of cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon butter for grilling
  • Your choice of pizza toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, etc.)
  • Italian seasoning (optional, for extra flavor)

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by heating a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread pizza sauce on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On one slice of bread, layer the mozzarella cheese followed by your desired toppings. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning if using.
  4. Top with the second slice of bread, sauce side down.
Cooking
  1. Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, carefully place the sandwich in the skillet.
  2. Grill for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom slice is golden brown.
  3. Flip the sandwich and repeat on the other side, pressing down gently with a spatula.
  4. Once both sides are golden and the cheese has melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it sit for a minute before slicing.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Serve with a side of warm marinara sauce for dipping, a fresh salad, or crispy potato chips. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet.
