Preparation
- Start by heating a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread pizza sauce on one side of each slice of bread.
- On one slice of bread, layer the mozzarella cheese followed by your desired toppings. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning if using.
- Top with the second slice of bread, sauce side down.
Cooking
- Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, carefully place the sandwich in the skillet.
- Grill for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom slice is golden brown.
- Flip the sandwich and repeat on the other side, pressing down gently with a spatula.
- Once both sides are golden and the cheese has melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it sit for a minute before slicing.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Serve with a side of warm marinara sauce for dipping, a fresh salad, or crispy potato chips. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet.
