Philly Cheesesteak Bowls

A delightful twist on the classic cheesesteak sandwich, these bowls are packed with tender steak, colorful peppers, and gooey cheese served over a base of cauliflower rice, mashed potatoes, or rice.

Ingredients
  

For the steak and vegetables
  • 1 lb ribeye or sirloin steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
  • 1 small onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 1 red bell pepper red bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper or to taste
For assembly
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish
  • Cooked cauliflower rice, mashed potatoes, or rice for serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the steak as thinly as possible against the grain using a sharp knife.
  2. Slice the onions and bell peppers into thin strips, and mince the garlic.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced steak in a single layer, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the meat is nicely browned.
  3. In the same pan, add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
Assembly
  1. Divide cooked cauliflower rice, mashed potatoes, or rice into serving bowls. Top each bowl with the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables.
  2. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the warm mixture and let it melt naturally.
  3. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

These bowls are versatile and customizable. You can add jalapeños for spice or different types of cheese for variation. Perfect for meal prep or leftovers.
