Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter with flour and water until combined.
- Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
- Add salt and knead until smooth.
- Incorporate the basil pesto into the dough and knead again.
- Allow the dough to rise until doubled in size, about 4-6 hours.
- After rising, shape the dough and place it in a floured proofing basket.
- Let it rest for another 1-2 hours.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Gently invert the dough onto a baking sheet.
- Sprinkle melted Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and enjoy!
Notes
Serve warm with soups or salads, or use for sandwiches. Store in a paper bag at room temperature, or freeze for later use. Experiment with different types of pesto for variation.
