Ingredients
  

For the truffles
  • 1 package Oreo cookies (crushed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened) Make sure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract Adjust to taste, but be cautious with the amount.
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (for dipping) Melt slowly to avoid seizing.
  • optional to taste Crushed peppermint candies For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine crushed Oreos and softened cream cheese. Mix until well combined.
  2. Add the peppermint extract and mix again.
  3. Roll the mixture into small balls and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Freeze the truffles for about 30 minutes to firm up.
Coating
  1. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth.
  2. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off.
  3. Place the dipped truffles back on the baking sheet.
  4. If desired, sprinkle crushed peppermint candies on top before the chocolate sets.
  5. Refrigerate until the chocolate is set.
