Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning until smooth and combined.
Assembly
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce across the bottom.
- Layer oven-ready noodles over the sauce, covering it completely.
- Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture followed by a generous amount of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ensuring you finish with meat sauce on top and an extra sprinkle of mozzarella.
Baking
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving to allow the layers to set.
Notes
Serve hot with a side salad or garlic bread. For storage, cool completely, cover and refrigerate for up to 3-5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
