Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder Use high-quality matcha for best flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust for desired sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Consider substituting with almond extract for variation.
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips Optional; can substitute with dark chocolate chips.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. If using, fold in the white chocolate chips for extra sweetness.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To keep your cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months.
