Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 to 8 pieces bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (halal-certified)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • to taste Fresh parsley for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, minced garlic, and soy sauce until well combined.
Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in the hot skillet.
  2. Sear the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes until the skin is golden and crispy. Flip the chicken over.
  3. Pour the maple garlic mixture over the chicken thighs in the skillet.
  4. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven. Use a spoon to baste the chicken with the thickened sauce from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Searing the chicken adds fantastic flavor and keeps it juicy. Basting helps create a glossy, caramelized coating. Always use a meat thermometer for safety.
