Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 large yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pound 99% lean ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 pieces tostada shells
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend Optional topping
Optional Toppings
  • salsa
  • Greek yogurt
  • jalapeños

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned with no pink remaining, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Reduce heat to medium-low and let it simmer until the sauce has thickened and coats the meat, about 2-3 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Place the tostada shells on a baking sheet or plates. Evenly divide the turkey mixture among the shells.
  2. Top each tostada with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
  3. Serve immediately with your favorite optional toppings.

Notes

Store the toppings and turkey filling separately to keep fresh. Refrigerate the turkey mixture for up to 3 days. Reassemble tostadas just before serving.
