Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure butter is fully melted to bind the crust well.
Layers
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Consider using dark chocolate chips for added depth.
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Use any nuts you enjoy, like walnuts or pecans.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter, then press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Layering
  1. Sprinkle the shredded coconut evenly over the crust.
  2. Layer the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips over the coconut.
  3. If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts on top.
  4. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over all the layers.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  2. Let it cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

Cut bars into squares or rectangles for serving. Consider dusting with powdered sugar for elegance. They store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerated for two weeks. For longer storage, freeze individually wrapped pieces for up to three months.
