  • 1 pound halal beef kielbasa, sliced Can substitute with any halal sausage or grilled chicken.
  • 1 package frozen pierogi (about 16 ounces) Fresh pierogi can be used, may require shorter cooking time.
  • 2 cups sauerkraut, drained Can be replaced with fried cabbage for a milder flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Optional: can add chopped bell peppers or carrots for extra flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing the onion.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • to garnish Fresh parsley Optional.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the sliced kielbasa and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the drained sauerkraut and garlic powder, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  5. Gently add the frozen pierogi to the skillet, mixing all the ingredients together.
  6. Cover the skillet and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the pierogi are heated through.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy the symphony of flavors!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave until warmed through. Consider adding a bit of cheese on top or use different flavors of pierogi for variations.
