Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and lightly dust it with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix just until combined.
  6. Spread the thick batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  2. Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing.

Notes

Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze the cake in slices for easy serving later.
