Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
Store the bread at room temperature for 3-4 days or slice and freeze for up to three months. Toast slices directly from the freezer for a quick snack.
