  • 1 1/2 cups warm water Should be warm, not hot.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Adds moisture.

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

Store the bread at room temperature for 3-4 days or slice and freeze for up to three months. Toast slices directly from the freezer for a quick snack.
