Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Cold butter is key for flaky texture.
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk Can substitute with milk mixed with vinegar or lemon juice.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined, being careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently a couple of times to bring it together.
  6. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.
Baking
  1. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet, making sure they are close but not touching.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  3. Serve warm and enjoy the delicious aroma.

Notes

Store biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer bag for up to 3 months and reheat in the oven.
