Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined, being careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently a couple of times to bring it together.
- Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.
Baking
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet, making sure they are close but not touching.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
