  • 1 lb ground beef can be substituted with ground turkey or chicken
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced can use frozen hash browns as a shortcut
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup can be substituted with cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or your choice, experiment with different types
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
Assembly
  1. In a greased baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes, followed by the ground beef mixture.
  2. Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the layers, ensuring even coverage.
  3. Top with shredded cheese.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  2. After 1 hour, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes
