  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional) Enhances flavor
Fillings
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 cup diced ham
Wet Ingredients
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted) For mixing
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (for pouring into baking dish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using) until evenly combined.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheese and diced ham until evenly combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter and milk. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, leaving some lumps.
  5. Pour about ¼ cup of melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Spoon the biscuit batter carefully into the baking dish over the melted butter.
Baking
  1. Place the baking dish into the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool for a few minutes before cutting.
Serving
  1. Cut the biscuits into squares and serve warm.

Notes

For extra cheesy biscuits, add an additional half cup of cheese. These biscuits are great for meal prep and can be stored at room temperature or refrigerated for a week.
