Preparation and Oven Setup
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats. Prepare your work surface by dusting it with a little flour.
- Stretch or roll out your pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. If using a baking sheet, lightly dust it with cornmeal to prevent sticking.
Making the Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Whisk in the heavy cream and half of the Parmesan cheese. Stir constantly until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens slightly, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the dried oregano.
Assembling the Pizza
- Spread the garlic parmesan sauce evenly over the prepared pizza dough, leaving about a half-inch border for the crust.
- Distribute the cooked chicken pieces evenly across the sauce.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top, followed by the remaining Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes if desired.
Baking and Finishing
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven or pizza stone. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before slicing and serving.
Notes
For the best results, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Let the dough rest if it's springing back while you try to stretch it. Brush the edges of the dough with a little olive oil for a professional-style crust.
