  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk Use room temperature milk for better rise.
  • 3 large eggs Use room temperature eggs for better rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted) Generously grease the pan with melted butter.
Optional Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese Cheddar or Gruyère works well.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs Rosemary or thyme for herbed popovers.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, eggs, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter and mix until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  4. Grease a popover pan or muffin tin generously with melted butter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, filling each cup about 2/3 full to allow room for rising.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the popovers are puffed and golden brown on top.
  3. Remove from the oven and serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

Serve popovers warm with butter and sea salt. For gourmet touch, fill with flavored cream cheese or serve alongside dips.
