Preparation of Filling
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until they become translucent and fragrant.
- Next, add the ground beef to the skillet along with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook everything until the beef is browned and cooked through.
- Once cooked, allow the filling to cool slightly. Then, stir in cheese until it is melted and well combined.
Assembly and Cooking
- Take an empanada dough disc and place a spoonful of filling in the center.
- Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges firmly to seal.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the empanadas in batches until they are golden brown on both sides.
- Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Empanadas can be served with salsa or guacamole. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
