  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Minced for deeper flavor.
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth Use low sodium if desired.
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce Can be replaced with soy sauce.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking For sautéing ingredients.
For the mashed potatoes
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes Use your favorite mashed potato recipe.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to use a blend of cheeses.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sautéing until soft.
  3. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in carrots and peas, then add tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
Assembly
  1. Spoon the meat mixture into a baking dish.
  2. Top with mashed potatoes, spreading evenly.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and the top is golden.
  2. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes
