Ingredients
  

Ice Cream Base
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14oz)
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate cocoa powder Use high-quality for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips Use high-quality for best flavor.
  • 1 cup heavy cream or heavy whipping cream Can also use regular cream.
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 dash salt Enhances flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large measuring cup or saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, dark chocolate cocoa powder, and dark chocolate chips.
  2. Warm the mixture over low heat, stirring often, until the dark chocolate chips have melted and all lumps are gone. Remove from heat.
  3. Add in the whipping cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, and a dash of salt. Stir to combine all ingredients well.
Churning
  1. Set up your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn until frozen, typically about 20-25 minutes.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the freezer to keep it fresh. Best enjoyed within two weeks. Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving to soften slightly.
