  • 1 cup cold sparkling water Bubbly water helps create a lighter batter.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. Gradually add cold sparkling water to the dry ingredients, whisking until a smooth batter forms.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
Frying
  1. Dip each onion ring in the batter, letting excess drip off.
  2. Carefully place the battered onion rings in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For storage, place cooled onion rings in an airtight container lined with paper towels to absorb moisture. They’ll last in the fridge for about 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best quality.
