Preparation
- Begin by cutting the halloumi cheese into fries or sticks, about 1/2 inch wide.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with the beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each halloumi stick in flour, shaking off excess flour, then dip it into the egg, and finally coat it with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure they stick.
Cooking
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. The oil should be hot enough that a breadcrumb sizzles when dropped in.
- Carefully add the breaded halloumi fries to the skillet, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fries from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
These halloumi fries are best served fresh and can be paired with spicy sriracha mayo, garlic aioli, or tzatziki sauce.
