  • 8 oz pasta Any pasta shape works fine.
Sauce Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Can be substituted with half-and-half or plant-based cream alternative.
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped Use fresh basil for best flavor; dried basil can be used as a substitute.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • Parmesan cheese (for serving) Freshly grated preferred.

Method
 

Cooking Pasta
  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
Preparing the Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes, letting the flavors meld.
  4. Reduce the heat and add the heavy cream and chopped basil, mixing well.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
  1. Drain the pasta and toss it with the creamy tomato sauce until well coated.
  2. Serve warm, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave, adding a splash of milk or cream if needed to loosen the sauce. For added heat, consider using red pepper flakes in the sauce.
