Meatloaf Ingredients
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (80/20) For best flavor and texture, use a mix of lean and fatty ground beef.
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs Soak in milk to keep the meatloaf moist.
  • 1/2 cup milk Used to soak breadcrumbs.
  • 2 large eggs Large eggs to bind the mixture.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped Adds flavor to the meatloaf.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Adds a depth of flavor.
  • 1/4 cup ketchup Incorporated into the meat mixture.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional) For added flavor.
Topping Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup ketchup For topping.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar For the topping's sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar For a tangy flavor in the topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet or loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in milk for 3–5 minutes to ensure moistness.
  3. Add ground beef, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, pepper, and parsley to the bowl. Mix gently until combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet or press it into a loaf pan.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the topping ingredients (ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar) and spread it evenly over the loaf.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  2. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store leftover meatloaf wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze wrapped tightly for up to 3 months.
