Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
Cooking
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s no longer pink. Drain excess fat and stir in the marinara sauce until heated through.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Layering and Baking
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of the beef and marinara mixture at the bottom.
- Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a sprinkle of mozzarella, and another layer of the beef mixture.
- Repeat the layering process until ingredients are used up, finishing with noodles and topping with the remaining sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it sit for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve hot with garlic bread and a crisp green salad. A glass of red wine enhances the flavors. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
