Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and molasses until fully incorporated.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a smooth dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut into desired shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are slightly firm.
- Let cool completely before decorating.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them between parchment paper for up to three months.
