Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
Decoration
  • Colored frosting for decorating
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until the dough is just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  7. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place them on ungreased baking sheets.
Baking
  1. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating with frosting and sprinkles.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Undecorated cookies can be frozen for up to three months.
