Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until the dough is just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut out shapes using cookie cutters and place them on ungreased baking sheets.
Baking
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating with frosting and sprinkles.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Undecorated cookies can be frozen for up to three months.
