Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until combined.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined to avoid overmixing.
Baking
- Divide the batter into two bowls and add red coloring to one and green to the other, mixing until you achieve your desired shades.
- Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling them about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting them.
Decoration
- Decorate with your choice of frosting and generously sprinkle with festive decorations.
Notes
Store the cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Best consumed within 3 days if decorated with frosting.
