- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and almond extract.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop the dough by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets and decorate with sprinkles.
Baking
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven until golden.
- Cool on wire racks.
Notes
To keep cookies fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or freeze for up to three months. For soft, chewy cookies, avoid overmixing. For crispier cookies, extend baking time slightly.
