Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened, not melted.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract Can be substituted with vanilla extract.
For Decoration
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk Adjust for desired glaze consistency.
  • Food coloring and sprinkles For festive decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until well combined.
  5. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets with space between each.
Baking
  1. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are golden and the center is just set.
  2. Mix confectioners' sugar and milk in a bowl to create a smooth glaze.
  3. Once cooled, decorate with the glaze and sprinkle with festive toppings.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze for longer storage. Layer with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
