For the cookie bars
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup holiday-themed sprinkles

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined and creamy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined; be careful not to overmix!
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and sprinkles, making sure to distribute them evenly.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars. Serve and enjoy with family and friends!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze wrapped individually for longer storage. For serving, warm with ice cream or whipped cream, and enjoy with hot cocoa.
