  • 6 cups Chex cereal (rice, corn, or wheat)
  • 1 cup mixed nuts Use a mix of sweet and savory nuts for better flavor.
  • 1 cup pretzels
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Can substitute half with peanut butter chips.
  • 1/2 cup butter Melted for coating.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup Can be substituted with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the Chex cereal, mixed nuts, and pretzels.
Coating
  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt together over medium heat; stir until it becomes bubbly and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  2. Pour the warm mixture over the Chex mixture, stirring to coat all the ingredients evenly.
Baking
  1. Spread the coated mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even baking.
  3. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on the baking sheet.
  4. Once cooled, mix in the chocolate chips and either serve immediately or package it as a delightful gift.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. For longer storage, freeze tightly in a freezer-safe bag.
