Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature Ensure butter is at room temperature for better creaming.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Can be substituted with brown sugar for chewier cookies.
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Chocolate Chips
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using a mixer, beat butter and sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Add salt, vanilla, and eggs; beat until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture; mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake until cookies are golden brown around the edges, about 12-15 minutes.
  3. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve cookies warm for a gooey treat or at room temperature. Pair with milk, coffee, or tea. Can be wrapped to make a lovely gift.
