Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
- In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the room-temperature butter and both sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Add the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs; beat until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Drop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake until the cookies are golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Chill the dough for thicker cookies and avoid overmixing after adding flour.
