Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions using water, oil, and egg.
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for about 15 minutes.
- While the brownies are baking, scoop small balls of cookie dough and freeze them until firm.
Assembly & Baking
- Once the brownies have finished baking, remove them from the oven and place the frozen cookie dough balls evenly across the surface.
- Cover the cookie dough balls with the remaining brownie batter and spread it out evenly.
- Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Finishing Touches
- Allow the brownie bombs to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.
- Melt the chocolate chips with shortening in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Dip each brownie bomb into the melted chocolate and let them set on a wire rack.
Notes
These brownie bombs can be served warm with ice cream or dusted with powdered sugar for special occasions.
