  • 1 pound ground beef Flavorful and filling.
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced Ensure they are sliced thinly for even cooking.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Feel free to mix different types for extra flavor.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with cream of chicken or homemade sauce.
  • 1 cup milk
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Optional: herbs or spices for seasoning Customize to your taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish. Top with half of the cooked beef mixture.
  5. Pour half of the soup mixture over the layers and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your hearty meal!

Notes

This casserole is delicious on its own but can also be served with a side salad or steamed vegetables. A dollop of sour cream or a sprinkle of fresh herbs can add extra flavor.
